Hailing from the Washington , DC area, Vanessa Mason started designing at an early age by creating swimwear and summer clothes for herself in elementary school. She earned her degree in marketing and began a successful career in the technology industry while embarking upon studying fashion design.

Soon after completing her studies and beginning her career in fashion, Mason started designing for a private clientele. When a retailer expressed an interest in carrying her designs; Mason chose to take her collection to the retail marketplace. With the encouragement and support of her family in 1996, she started Layne Corban Designs, a millinery design studio. In 2000, Layne Corban Designs became Layne Corban, a fashion forward design studio.

While planning her wedding, Mason found that shopping for that perfect, elegant, sophisticated gown was limited. It was then that she decided to use her knowledge and skills that she had used in the past to design and create the perfect gown for her special day. Mason's focus on the bridal business was born!

Mason says she always "had a passion for high fashion." Her collection is a tribute to "confident, sexy and fabulous women who want a unique and opulent look." “ A bride needs guidance, a sense of styling from someone who knows ”, explains Mason, who understands no two women are alike. “No one dress is good for every bride. A bride's individual style and personality has to fit the gown.”

When selecting a gown, Mason reminds brides that the silhouette is the key to beauty. For a bride to look stunning, the dress must be appropriate for her body, shape and form. Mason's design philosophy is to create exquisite, couture-influenced gowns that are beautiful and elaborate.

As a bridal designer with her own label, Vanessa Layne Mason now delights in bringing essential elements of glamour and fashion into the realm of romance.
